Pigment App: Tints and Shades of Art Digital Coloring Book

Role: Illustrator, Designer

What: Created a set of 10 vector illustrations for a digital coloring book themed around different branches of art

Where: Pigment App

How: Designed clean, black-and-white vector illustrations that were adapted for in-app digital coloring

Impact: Provided Pigment users with an engaging, educational set that celebrates creativity across artistic fields and encourages exploration through digital coloring.

Pigment is a popular digital coloring app, known for its wide selection of artist-created content. I was invited to make a coloring book for their platform focused on the rich world of the arts.

The set featured 10 illustrations, each one celebrating a different branch: cinematography, theater, fashion design, architecture, music, dance, painting, sculpture, literature, and handcrafts.

Goals

The goal was to inspire users of all ages to discover and celebrate the diversity of artistic expression. Each illustration was designed to highlight the unique qualities of its art form while offering plenty of detail and open space for creative, colorful play.

Collaboration

I collaborated with the Pigment team to deliver crisp, clean vector files, making sure each line was optimized for digital coloring. Pigment’s developers adapted my artwork for their app and transformed the illustrations into interactive pieces users could color directly on their devices.

My Role

I researched and conceptualized each branch of art, then created illustrations in my distinctive style. I wanted to balance clarity, detail, and room for user creativity. My focus was on making each page visually engaging and inviting to color, regardless of skill level or artistic background.

Design Concept

Each illustration includes iconic symbols and scenes related to its branch of art: film reels and spotlights for cinematography, stage and decorations for theater, mannequins and textiles for fashion, classical columns for architecture, etc. This set offers variety while maintaining a unified style.

Final Design

The completed set featured 10 black-and-white vector illustrations, each carefully composed and delivered as high-quality assets. Pigment users could select, customize, and color each page within the app.

Results

Tints and Shades of Art coloring book quickly became a well-loved set within the Pigment app, appreciated for both its educational angle and intricate designs that appealed to colorists of all ages. By focusing on clarity, variety, and creative potential, the project encouraged users to learn about and celebrate different artistic disciplines, one color at a time.
